Because resource protection is at the heart of any conservation related project, and because many conservation projects themselves involve impacts on the landscape, restoration is an integral, indeed necessary component to any land-based project involving impacts. After years of experience in the field, I believe the landscape can heal and repair itself from human impacts. However it is our responsibility to facilitate the healing process and promote the unnecessary destruction or loss of valuable resources. A healthy forest environment, landscape restoration focusing on soil and land substrate stability, and erosion control play an important part in my work. Through a variety of often simple methods, your landscape can be protected or restored to vitality in order to better serve you. Contact me to learn how I can help with restoration projects.

This is a rehabilitated section of alpine meadow along the John Muir Trail, located in the Ansel Adams Wilderness of the California High Sierra. The new trail was constructed through the talus field that can be seen on the right side of the photos, thus protecting the fragile alpine riparian area and creating a more stable, sustainable tread surface.
